Time required for the visit
Visiting either the Museum or the Old Prison takes about an hour and a half. Allow additional time for the souvenir gift shop.
Guided visits are available for the Museum for groups of 15 or more. Visits are available in French and English.
As many as 300 persons may visit the Museum at the same time, but visits to the Old Prison are limited to 75 persons. If groups of more than 75 visitors wish to visit both sites, they can be split between the Museum and the Old Prison.
Shop, refreshments, picnic area
The Museum Shop offers a wide range of articles, many related to the themes of the exhibits and others created by Québec artists and craftsmen. Snacks and drinks are available, and the yard behind the Museum is just right for a picnic. A catering service is available if requested ahead of time.
Busses may discharge passengers either on Laviolette Street in front of the Museum entrance or on Saint-François-Xavier Street at the Old Prison entrance.
